Woolly Mammoth (Small)Mammoths roamed this Earth from around the Pliocene period - 4.8 million to 4,500 years ago.

They are closely related to our modern day Asian Elephant and stood between 3.0 and 3.7 metres to the shoulder (10-12 feet). They would have weighed in at approximately 6-8 tons. Unbelievably, some exceptionally large males belonging to the Songhua River Mammoth species are known to have attained weights which exceeded a massive 12 tons!!!

Three species of mammoths lived on the U.S. mainland at the end of the last Ice Age and fossilised remains of these creatures are often found in areas that were covered by grasslands or tundra. Mammoths are thought to have been primarily grass-eaters and had distinctive teeth which were composed of compressed enamel plates which made them extremely strong and wear-resistant.

Luckily for all concerned the Hansa woolly mammoth toy is nowhere near as scary! Our representation is not overwhelmingly lifelike because you'd never get one through your front door! To be quite honest he is literally just a 'softy'. He's brown, he's hairy and he's oh so cuddly.
