Fox, StandingThe most common and widespread of foxes is the Red Fox which is native in the Unoted Kingdom. They are characterised by their auburn coat, long pointed snout and splendid bushy tail, which is white tipped.

Male foxes (dogs) weigh around 6kgs and the females (vixens) approximately 5.2kgs. Surprisingly lightweight.

Unsurprisingly, in the wild foxes have become very wary of humans as they have been hunted for many, many years. Their urban counterparts, however, who scavenge in towns and built up areas seem to have adapted to human presence and are regular visitors to gardens and other possible food sources.

In the wild foxes eat invertibrates, rabbits, rodents and a variety of grasses, berries etc. Of course, as we all well know foxes do have a predatorial nature, they are wily and determined when it comes to gaining access to farm livestock such as lambs and chicken and this is why they are regarded as unwanted guests by farmers.

Putting all that to one side we think foxes are pretty handsome animals and we have to admit to having a certain affection for them.

Our fox toy is a brilliant representation and illustrates just how appealing this wily one can be. The face on our version is wonderfully crafted and the expression says 'butter wouldn't melt in his mouth'. Do you have room in your heart and your home for a fox? Taking another look at this chap we think the answer is likely to be "Yes!".
